“Like its Power Drive cousins, the Chamberlain CG40D has
an industrial strength chain in an enclosed gear case to continually lubricate the chain”
|The Chamberlain garage door opener model CG40D is Chamberlain’s most basic 1/2 HP chain drive garage door opener. The CG40D is an inexpensive, no frills opener for your single or double garage door. If you have a heavy, solid wooden garage door or carriage house door, you should step up to a more powerful 3/4 HP chain drive or belt drive garage door opener. Chamberlain options include the Whisper Drive®WD962KD and the Power Drive® PD752D.Like its Power Drive® cousins, the Chamberlain CG40D has an industrial strength chain in an enclosed gear case to continually lubricate the chain for longer life as well as quiter and smoother operation. For comparison purposes, the CG40D features are shown below along with those of the Power Drive® models:
CG40D – 1/2 HP with a single, 75 Watt Light, One single-button Remote Control and illuminated door control button (like a door bell). The motor carries a 4-year warranty.
PD210D – 1/2 HP with a single, 100 Watt Light, One single-button Remote Control and one Multi-Function Control Panel. The motor carries a 6-year warranty.
PD212D – 1/2 HP with a single, 100 Watt Light, Two single-button Remote Controls and one Multi-Function Control Panel. The motor carries a 6-year warranty.
PD610D – 1/2 HP with 200 Watts of Light, One multi-function 3-Button Remote Control and one Multi-Function Control Panel. The motor carries a lifetime warranty.
The Chamberlain garage door opener model CG40D is a great choice for solid, bottom-dollar performance. The CG40D includes Chamberlain’s Security+® features, including a rolling code remote and PosiLock® door locking system. For a few dollars more, some consumers prefer the PD210D, PD212D or the PD610D with more features and longer motor warranties.
The CG40D also includes Chamberlain’s ProtectorSystem® safety sensors (an invisible light beam across the door that reverses and opens the garage door if the light beam is interrupted) as well as sensing technology to stop the door from closing if it encounters an object or person. NOTE: If you have an 8 or 10 foot tall garage door, you will need to purchase the rail extension kit.
